How are you feeling about the TS last movie coming?

Ok, I'm a newborn . This is my first thread. But its been on my mind since i got here. I really wanted to hear what others " like" me are feeling about breaking dawn part 2 coming out. Because while my love of this story goes deeper than just the movies, the movies were the manifestation of all the visual stuff that helps make US love the story even more. Not to mention that a real true love story came of it ( Rob and kristen). So I'm both excited and at times a bit sad. Because I know as the movies end, merchandising ends etc. I guess it will sort of slip from every day life where we see it in stores etc. And thats not ultimately the end of the world. But like a lot of other newborns who just got bitten, it feels weird to me to be here now as its all moving to a different place.

I thought this would be a good place to share our feelings about this. I feel better just having said that I feel a bit sad about it in fact. I can't wait to hear how others feel and are coping with the shift of that....jenn*sparkles

I did want to add also that since i have begun reading the books ....( those of you who visited my introduction page know the story) that i do know that personally the books will keep this alive within me for a long time. Because the magic really is in the books I feel, but i guess I do feel that as the movie, soundtrack, visual stuff fades, it sort of takes away from the reality of it being everpresent. My daughters bff's mother said something similar last week while we were waiting to pick up our kids. She was a real twi-hard and said recently she just felt it all fading away for her and the others she knows. She said most of her friends have moved on quite a bit. I just found it interesting that that coincided to her with the last movie being released. I was curious if she wasn't alone ...

The films were/are a cultural phenomenon, similar to the Harry Potters. There is a finite supply of source work and once that's used up, the human imagination seeks new thrills. I would be delighted if the author decided to revisit the works; above all if she ever decided to resume and finish Midnight Sun. Alternatively, she could do a Butch Cassidy and explore the past history in more depth; especially I feel that Alice Cullen's story deserves to be told, Jasper Hale's story also. A film of Midnight Sun would need to show the visions in Edward's mind because that's how films convey stories, and so it could never be child-friendly; too violent. A film of Alice Cullen's life should be truthful about her personal journey, and she may not have ever actually munched through people like they were M+Ms, but she was once an old-school vampire, so I don't think her film should be a Certificate 12. Twilighters need to be prepared for this; Ms Meyer is a genuine Gothic horror-novelist, whatever her detractors keep saying.

There is no such thing as perpetual motion. For motion to continue, matter needs to be converted into energy. For new films, we need new stories. Only Ms Meyer can do this, to feed us with new fuel for our imaginations.

Very well said. I agree especially about the characters being rexplored. And i also agree that their stories are more than pop culture suitable. I've read quite a bit about SM. And i get the gist she was a bit limited in some ways. As well as the directors who had a PG 13 rating to maintain. As an adult I would appreciate her not having to work within that construct. In fact although I haven't read midnight sun excerpts yet, its been a bit clear to me that she's more comfortable moving on right now. And Robert was interviewed saying that he would not be doing any more films because he is older now and his character does not age in the movie, making it rather hard for him to keep up with that. Although nothing is impossible.. and if done within 2-3 years it could be a no brainer. But like you pointed out , that's not up to us. And I'm not into trying to control the uncontrollable.

I also agree this am, after releasing some of my aparent sadness I felt last night before drifting to unconsciousness, that new stories do keep things fresh. That's the evolution of life. It expands. I know I posted somewhere that i understood that a many great things would come from the foundation of this story. We chase the feeling it gives us. It's simple as that. And the feeling can be asertained in other ways. My own sense of grief is selfish. It revolves around the fact that i found this when I did. I feel a bit like i missed that long magical carpet ride many were on since 2008. But i can let that go. I cam appreciate how inspired I've been by SM, as a writer myself. And how I adore how this story has refueled my own passions around my own work.

A creation is always expanding is the basis of evolution, so I'm reminding myself this am that nothing ends. It just morphs into something even better. And twilight will always be part of my own personal heroine. Ready and available to me to use at any time...

Much appreciation and love for your insightful thoughts .... jenn

I am pretty sad about the movies coming to an end. Not because Twilight will end for me since I know it never will but because of how you mentioned merchandise being around and easily available and new merchandise coming out. Also because it is more culturally acceptable to be obsessed with the movies than it is with the books. There are more Twilight fans right now and I know plenty of my friends will move on after the movies and will probably find is strange that I will not be moving on.

Exactly! Oh I love Calvin and hobbes ...etc. I'm looking over to my shrine as well, thinking about the fact that its all for me. It makes me really happy. And I'm never giving up on happiness, that's for certain! So mine shall remain as well... much love and light, jenn

    Hi RandiDandi,

Good to see another newborn here..

I definately knew last night when i posted that i wouldn't be alone. That's why I knew if I talked it out here is find a way to feel better. Isn't this a wonderful place! Indeed it is. I have a few people who are twihard worthy. My 13 year old niece and my daughters bff's mother. I don't see them a lot, but I did have a sleep over at my house in which case my neice and i spent all night talking about it with my daughter. I appreciated that a great deal.

As for merchandise, yes that really hit me last night as well. It has occured I'm these last few months to really collect while still available. And I've been hot on the trail of that here recently averaging 1-150.00 a month or more. I'm also aware that i personally find that the things that i love about this story are very much found in other avenues. Such as the clothing. The clothing styling and the music in the movies was part of the POP culture phenomenon. Interestingly enough. My obsessions growing up around books revolved around Anne of green gables saga and gone with the wind. Meaning those where both set within eras that the characters in this story were from or enjoyed time during. I've always been facinated with that aspect . So I've found that I'm naturally attracted to finding clothing pieces and accessories that match that era. So I think that will always ne somewhat easy to access , especially with the internet.

The other aspect is to flip it around to the good news, the good news is WE STILL HAVE ONE MORE PREMIER ( doing a happy dance !) Meaning we still have an opportunity to enjoy aspects of that in November. And I'm planning to have it go out with a bang ! I'm going all out there... so there is still much to celebrate there... ...love and light, jenn

Funny, just yesterday I was lamenting that Breaking Dawn Pt 2 is the last of it all. :-(

I have been on the Twilight train since 2009, right after I watched Twilight on DVD and read the books.

I have all the movie soundtracks and scores and the books so Twilight will never go away completely. Maybe in 10 years time or so my daughter (she is 5 now) will want to read the books. :-) BTW I was obesssed with GWTW when I was a young girl. I was also so mesmerized by Vivien Leigh's talent and beauty that I named my DD Vivien. :-)

The disappearance of merchandise doesn't bother me as I have very little. I like it all but can't justify the cost. But there are so many fans that make (and sell) their own Twilight inspired jewelry, artwork, decorative boxes, plaques, etc. Some are even TMs here. :-)

I will miss the excitement of the new movie releases. I rememeber how excited I was for New Moon, especially, since it was first TW movie I saw in the theater.

Well, I am kind of just rambling here...but just wanted to say I feel like you. I have to admit, I will miss seeing "Edward" on the big screen. But I look forward to watching the career of Robert Pattinson. :-)

    Thanks to megadazzled!

Me too...I just loved vivien. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I just picked up the 70th anniversary double dvd pack from Walmart last week. Rewatching it after probably 10 years I still remembered the plot line so well. And the costumes were to die for. I feel TS has this going on. Meaning that it will become its own version of classic.. And i loved anne so much...Anne with an " E" shirley I made ity DD
middle name. And since I'm not remarried , I sent a wish to the universe that my next partner be named Edward. To make it easier on both him and me as well...

Sad! But with the books (I read over and over) Twilight will always be with me. I have the DVD's I enjoy watching over and over and we'll see our beloved cast in other films. I would love a movie about Alice but only if Ashley signed on to play her, if not then forget it, no one can play Alice but Ashley!
I didn't hesitate this time, climbing in the passenger side quickly, the sooner to see his face. He grinned his crooked smile at me, stopping my breath and my heart. I couldn't imagine how an angel could be any more glorious. Bella Swan....Twilight

Yes, I am in agreement that it feels sad, but I am also excited to see the second part of the book on film. It don't feel that it will be the end of my obsession, but I have noticed that some of the TMs who have joined this forum are no longer here. Hard for me to understand how a person could just post a few times and never come back.
Like others, I feel that the Cullen story had not finished in our hearts and we will always have hope that SM will give us more, MS or something else.
And edwardstempation, yes, if they change any of the cast, it would be heart breaking. I will watch every movie each of them make in the future, for sure.
    Cheers,
