Breaking Dawn part 1 is by far the best of the Saga to date. It encompasses the emotions of love, humor, sadness, and fear in the book so perfectly. I am so pleased with director Bill Condon I could kiss him.
As we saw in Eclipse some directors sign on just for the money. I'm so glad Condon treated Breaking Dawn like art instead of a paycheck. Anyway.
The story of BD is complex and breaking it into two parts was necessary for the translation into film but could leave those looking for a clear story arc a little lost. The plot arcs over the entire book and cutting it down the middle interrupts the flow. I say this only to try to reconcile how someone could not think this movie is amazing. (blasted critics) I think this time next year when we see both parts back to back we will appreciate Breaking Dawn as a whole even more.
To touch on why I really love this movie, Edward. He finally is the dark self-loathing self-proclaimed monster that he is in the books.(and he looks incredible on screen, swoon) I really think Condon let the actors be their characters so much more than in previous movies.
Kristen did the best portrayal of a dead person I have ever seen. I found myself questioning whether or not Bella was really going to die.
Taylor really did a great job with Jacob this time. He brought me to tears several times. I'm so glad he stepped up his performance from Eclipse.
The rest of the cast was exceptional too. Some honorable mentions go to Billy Burke. Who knew Charlie was such a card? Anna Kendrick, finally a smug jealous Jessica just like in the books. The whole cast really did an amazing job portraying their characters this time round. I am so pleased.
I plan on seeing it many more times to catch all the little nuances you can miss and am desperate to know the DVD release date.
Oh why is November 2012 a whole year away?
