There are quite a few musicians nominated that have ties to our beloved Twilight. Some have been included on the movie soundtracks, some on Stephenie Meyer's playlists and one that can claim a spot on it all
First and foremost, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack is nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.
The band who is a favorite of Stephenie Meyer's and also have contributed songs to every movie soundtrack thus far is Muse. They are nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album.
Stephenie Meyer was quoted by MTV saying this about Muse: “I was in Forks [Washington, the city where 'Twilight' is based] with my sister — before any of the books had come out, just sort of scoping it out,” Meyer said. “I was working on ‘Eclipse’ at the time, and I had [Muse's album] Absolution in, and ‘Hysteria’ came on and, in my mind, the kiss scene between [Bella] and Jacob just choreographed itself, down to how many steps he took toward her. So whenever I read that now, I always hear the song in my mind.”
Entertainment Weekly posted about Stephenie Meyer's Twilight inspirations, one of which of course is Muse: ''They universally work for my writing style. If I have to write a scene of despair, 'Apocalypse Please' will work. And if I have to write an action scene, I can put on 'Assassin.' If I have to write a scene about love, 'Starlight' will work. They have so many emotions!''

As we all anticipated the first Twilight movie being released, many of us were introduced to Paramore. Their song, Decode, was the soundtrack's official single and the band received a large boost in popularity by their involvement with the franchise. Paramore is nominated for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. Hayley Williams, the band's lead singer, is also nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
In this video, the band chats about Twilight (not just the movie, the books, too!) and being a part of the soundtrack:
Video for their Grammy nominated song, The Only Exception:
The band Vampire Weekend seemed to fit right into the Twilight franchise based on their name alone! They wrote a song specifically for the Eclipse soundtrack, titled Jonathan Low. Vampire Weekend are nominated for Best Alternative Album.
The band described the song, Jonathan Low, to Triple J Music News:
"It's pretty different than anything we've done before, and I guess we kinda looked at it as... you know, being that it's going to be on a soundtrack to a movie, why not try something slightly different? So there's this cool twelve-string guitar part that Rostam's playing, and I think, yeah, it might surprise people a little bit."
Video Hits interviews the band prior to a show in Sydney, Australia. They start talking about Twilight around the 15 minute mark. Ezra Koenig, the band's lead singer, seems quite taken with Kristen Stewart
Florence + The Machine are nominated for Best New Artist. Florence Welch is essentially the woman behind the band, she has collaborators, but all the music is hers. The backing band varies as she tours. We love the fact the she was a fan of the Twilight books prior to her involvement with the movie!
Video for Heavy In Your Arms, from the Eclipse soundtrack:
The Black Keys have really made themselves known on the music scene this past year! They are nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Rock Instrumental Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Recording Package.
Video for their Grammy nominated song, Tighten Up:
This next artist seemed a bit out of place on a Twilight movie soundtrack, as most of the musicians have been from a rock background, but Cee Lo Green's contribution to the Eclipse soundtrack rounded it out quite nicely. Cee Lo Green has had an amazing year apart from the soundtrack and is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Urban/Alternative Performance, and Best Short Form Music Video.
Cee Lo Green was a part of an Eclipse soundtrack special, which was streamed online and broadcast on the screens outside the Nokia Theater for the fans who were camped at the LA Eclipse premiere. A few of the artists featured on the Eclipse soundtrack were interviewed and performed their songs.

Another band Stephenie Meyer loves is Arcade Fire. They are nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals and Best Alternative Music Album.
Stephenie included their song The Well and the Lighthouse on her Eclipse playlist:
In August 2008, Stephenie spoke to MTV and mentioned Arcade Fire:
"I love the Arcade Fire. I mean, I adore them. And Motion City Soundtrack is really awesome. I think [the filmmakers] are looking at a lot of up-and-coming people. The person in charge of the music has actually introduced me to a lot of awesome bands, like Stars and Castledoor. And I'm, like, "Wow, give me more music."
Korn is a band we never expected to see on Stephenie Meyer's playlist! She certainly has eclectic taste in music Korn is nominated for Best Metal Performance. Videos for their Grammy nominated song, Let the Guilt Go and the song Stephenie included on the Breaking Dawn playlist, Twisted Transistor, can be found on YouTube. PLEASE NOTE: The lyrics and content are explicit.
Good luck to all the artists nominated!
Thank you Anna, Jen, Singer, and the adoption team for my AMAZING siggie!!

Eclipse Soundtrack artists do seem to be gaining a lot of momentum lately and I wonder if any of that is tied to their involvement w/ the Twilight Saga! I'm really liking Florence & the Machine lately, as well as Metric .. and I LOVE PARAMORE & MUSE! I've got my fingers crossed for Paramore's "Only Exception" to take home the Grammy -- they deserve it! Brand New Eyes is one of my al time favorite albums! And Bellamy is in for quite a year if he starts it off w/ a Grammy win as well!
I love Muse and I think they may just be my favourite band right now. I'm really pleased to see all these talented artists get the credit they deserve and I love, love, love Florence's answer to this question:
If you were a vampire, what would you want your special power to be?
"I guess control time, I do so many embarassing things daily it would be nice to go back and get a second chance."
Somehow they have managed to get much of my favorite music on these soundtracks....it is so great that my obsession has a great soundtrack! Paramore, Linkin Park, Florence, Muse etc. It is all the music in my car.
Great Thread!!! I love that the spotlights are back!! YAY!!! You guys do such amazing work on these boards and I just hope you know how much you are appreicated!!! As for the Grammys, I would love Twi-track artists to get their due!!! I got to see Muse and Paramore in concert and they were amazing!!! Muse is just beyond anything when you see them live. I love Florence and the Machine and Heavy is one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack. I love Cee Lo but I have to admit, right now it's his "forget you" song that rocks in my car. LOL Thanks again for all that you do!!!
You did a fantasic job on this, Dazzled! I will definately be watching the GRAMMYs this year! Best of luck to all the bands
Many thanks to sisterblysse for my siggy! And to my daughter for my avitar! "You poor simple fools, thinking you could defeat me-me, the mistress of all evil!" ~Maleficent
