If you host an exchange, you start the sign up thread, take the names and information of the people signing up, make the assigments, and then you usually check up at the end of the exchange to see if everyone received their cards (we like to know who didn't follow through because they will not be able to participate in future exchanges).

Hi aburklen. I will give you a rundown on hosting. To be a host you would be updating the list of TMs in a specific exchange in the original post, receiving addresses and organizing all the TMs and PMing their addresses to the assigned TM. Once deadline arrives, there is sometimes a new thread for posting pics. As a follow-up, if someone is missing a gift or card, you would track down an ETA.
Have you participated in exchanges on other boards? Our card exchanges (handmade or store bought) are usually sending 3 cards, with small tokens like bookmarks, magnets, stickers, etc if wanted , but not required. Gift exchanges are $10 or less gifts and a card, with small tokens if wanted.
These exchanges are tons of fun. There is a 2012 calendar sticky to tell you when they are.
