Has the IRS ever taken an interest in Carlilse Cullen, I wonder. He lives very modestly for a man who has assets exceeding $36 billion, so they might not appreciate exactly how wealthy he is. But the world is getting trickier for people such as Carlilse, what with money laundering regulations and the decreasing utility of mere cash. Pretty soon, someone in the Cullen family will need to get seriously computer-literate and learn how to control huge sums of money without being detected. Bella might be useful to them here, given the usage she managed to squeeze out of an antique steam-radio PC on a dial-up connection. Maybe whenever she does make it to Dartmouth she should study Law and Business and get herself a job at a high end merchant bank in order to learn the ropes.
I see a future for her as the CEO of Cullen Associates Foreign Exchange Solutions...
Postscript: It would help Carlisle if he had front men to conceal his financial dealings for him. I have often wondered if George Soros is everything he seems.

I do wonder what Carlisle's tax return actually looks like. He is not an ostentatious man, and doesn't live like a man with assets exceeding $36bn, but with the best will in the world, he isn't living like a man with only a provincial hospital consultant's salary to support him and his family. Meanwhile there is Edward who also must account for some serious inherited wealth.
Possibly the assets can be concealed in a off-shore trust. But the income is visible, and the IRS are always on the lookout for people living beyond their apparent means, as Al Capone could verify if he were a member of TMF. The Cullens need a family group of companies and some fictitious trading to fake the creation of their wealth. If they don't want to pay tax on all of it, they can pass some of it through a fake charitable trust. I can see it now:

This is hilarious! Just learn about Forbes and fictional character's list.There is a lot to think about the Cullen's money.In spite of the fact that all members of this family are young(17-26) they are all quite old and to be consider as all independents adults.It will not seem that Carlisle will give any spending money to the kids each week! The boys seem to enjoy a lot betting about any and every thing.The girls are very busy with shopping and I think Alice like a little visit to the casino from time to time.Considering these difficult times, some antique are less expensive because lack of interest and money but the real stuff and art still stay high-price and Esmee having such a good taste and a good eye, sound like one to jump on the good finding.There is so much to save and restore!So who is the less fortunate of them all?
