I loved that they actually showed Victoria, not just a glimpse of red in the water. That made so much more of an impact. The song was the best, too. LOVE "Slow Life" and then to hear it here...

I absolutely loved the cliff diving scene. It was one of my favorite scenes. I loved the way they placed the song Hearing Damage into the scene with Harry dying and the wolves chasing after Victoria and Bella diving off the cliff. It definitely makes me love that song that much more. Way to go Chris Weitz for placing the song perfectly to those scenes.

Love the editing tying in the simultaneous progressions
Love how Victoria seemed to be there, hiding in the background
Love the boost to hair color intensity
Love her swan dive, and seeing Jake stand helplessly on the edge of the cliff

Was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the underwater sequence.. Was far better than i ever imagined.

I did think, though, that she should have hesitated more. People don't just toss themselves off the cliff like that.
    I couldn't agree more!

Personally, I loved Sam diving off the cliff. The way that was used as a transition shot was amazing. It takes my breath away every time.

    Liked it so very much!!
my only "but"... I would rather they did'nt have shown Edward under the water on the trailers, it was so well done and dramatic, it would have made the scene so more powerful seeing it for the first time on the big screen...

    Just my opinion

Loved the Hearing Damage sequence. Thought Victoria's dive was awesome. Really liked how Charlie, Harry and Jacob were all incorprated into the scene, it really tied it all together. At first I didn't like Bella's jump, but then I thought, someone who never had jumped before would have done it just like she did, a little hesitatnt, feet first, etc. So I was okay with it. Loved Jacob Wolf standing on the cliff and turning towards what I assume was Bella just before they cut back to her jump.

I agree with other people that the wolf pack dives seemed a little CGI- but I didn't think they were horrible. I thought that Sam's dive was way too short though for the height.

I agree Ava. I also think it highlights her awkward humanness against all these mythical characters with graceful dives like Sam and Victoria.

I came across a poem by Christina Rosetti, "An Echo From Willow Wood," that made me think immediately of the underwater scene. Here's an excerpt (sorry, the site formatting won't let me tab the lines the way they appear in written text):

There on the brink of life's dividing sea.
Lilies upon the surface, deep below
Two wistful faces craving each for each,
    Resolute and reluctant without speech:--
A sudden ripple made the faces flow,
One moment joined, to vanish out of reach:
So those hearts joined, and ah were parted so.

Yes, Shimmer, I can see why it made you think of the underwater scene.
Isn't it fantastic every time TW moments happen?

Yes! And I do seem to have a lot of them.

I love how these lines from the poem work so well with the soundtrack selection ("Slow Life") that plays during the scene, in addition to the visuals on the screen. It's a great fusion of art forms.

Oooooh - I just saw your poem now Shimmers - wow, this dreamy and exotic passage reflects the deep underwter scene so well, it makes my skin crawl.
Those anti-Twilight critics just don't understand the deep psychological and symbolic 'undercurrents' that 'flow' at different levles in the text, eh?!
