Yep! I did! Another Bella-esque reminder.

But for me the most obvious one was SOULS. And exploring the soul. Poor Edward is so worried that he no longer has a soul and does not want Bella to lose hers. Then here are these alien souls going from planet to planet and host to host and having to choose what they do with themselves - to stay on a planet and relive in yet another host, or become a 'mother' by disintegrating into millions of babies.
Wow! Great insight! How did I not see the parallel!? Souls are very important to SM, aren't they?

I think there are a lot of parallels between The Host and the TS. This makes sense, because many authors tend to explore the same themes from various angles throughout their writing careers.

SM is obviously concerned with the state of the soul, and even the very definition of a soul. She also likes to examine what constitutes humanity (and what doesn't), and what it means to be human, inhuman, non-human, inhumane....She concerns herself with ideas about transformation, transcendence, and sacrifice, and not only about what it means to be human, but what it means to be truly alive. Every one of these concepts is a key component in all her books, I think.
