Do you think we will learn anything new about Edward?

I think that Edward is a very smooth operator. He is lovely, charming and totally hides his real self from everyone but his family on a daily basis. I think that he must be so accustomed to lying that sometimes he will just lie anyway. Not big lies, but little white lies. Nothing that would deliberately harm anyone, but lies that would smooth his way.

I think he would manipulate Bella into something he thought was "for the best". We've seen him lie "for the best" in New Moon. Its only by Breaking Dawn that he finally starts to get that he has to trust in Bella and give her what she wants, not what he thinks she needs. It takes him a long time to learn, because he stays so constant in nature. But I think that in the end, he truly does learn this lesson.

The thing I like the most on this topic is that Edward, as a seasoned liar, recognizes when Bella is lying to him - or keeping something from him - in BD, and he realizes that sometimes lies are necessary.

I think Stephenie is the only one who really knows, of course, because she's his creator. She deserves to have a special level of connection with him that we can't guess at. I can't imagine how obsessed she was creating and spending time with him... I fell for him hard enough just as a passive reader. :<3:
