Enchantment by Orson Scott Card![]()
Hi! I am having the hardest time finding good clean romances, and especially since I have found Stephenie! Nothing else even comes close to the make-me-want-to-melt fall in love again feeling I get from Edward...and Jacob!
I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions. I don't like wading through sex scenes, I'd rather it be left up to imagination!
I just re-read Autsenland by Shannon Hale (excellent, by the way!) and got a little fix. I am LDS so I'd love some LDS recommendations too! I recently read Sariah Wilson's 2 books "Desire of Our Hearts" and "Secrets in Zarahemla" (I wish she had more, she is up there with Stephenie in romance writing IMO!).
Thanks!

I have this book!!! I saw that you mentioned it a couple times in another thread and I was going to ask you about it. I actually started it in January but the whole beginning was kind of hard to get through, so I put it away for a while.Originally Posted by cometomama
Should I start it again immediately?

It took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was SO worth it.Originally Posted by michelleranae

Janet Evanovich wrote a series of what could be called "fluff romance" novels before she became the author of the Stephanie Plum novels. They are quick little 200 + page books; fast, sweet romance novels... there is some premarital stuff going on, but they always get married in the end! And she's not a graphic romantic writer, either. They're cute... Love Overboard, Smitten and Manhunt are the ones I remember.
I just finished it this morning. It is very hard to get in to, but by 1/3 the way through I could not put it down. The only reason I did not finish it last night was that I was falling asleep reading it. There are very gratuitious sex comments, leaves nothing to the imagination IMO, but then it was written by a man. I think most of his books are more male oriented, but I am a sucker for a romance in any form.Originally Posted by cometomama
You could try A Certain Slant of Light (very minor, almost nothing love scene).
Or, read the Goose Girl series written by Shannon Hale.
Came back to clarify...it wasn't the sex scene, as that was hot and not graphic, just lustful and inspiring and they were married! but I think more of the language and the way the people talked back then, but then it probably is true to they way the did talk, so I just have baby ears and don't like to think like that. The book was really good and apparently I was not offended as I continued to read.Originally Posted by Jdzca
I love all of Nicholas Sparks' books. There is always one bedroom scene in them but other than that they are pretty clean (except for a walk to remember that didn't have a bedroom scene).
If you like teen books, Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr is really good. It's a tad bit steamier than Stephenie's stuff, but nowhere near an adult romance.
I never smile if I can help it. Showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates. Once someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee beegging for its life -- Dwight Shrute
Thank you all for your suggestions! I'm definintely going to check some of these out!
I just finished reading Enchantment. I thought it was really good! I should have stuck with it the first time! Well worth it!
